Enfield Caribbean Association’s Windrush week commemorations, kick off on Windrush Day on Thursday 22 June with the launch of ECA’s children's illustrated book Windrush Wonders and the launch of the Windrush Resource Pack for Secondary schools at Millfield Theatre from 6pm to 9pm.


The evening will include a reading from the Children’s book by its author Kamilah McInnis, complemented with poetry by Moina McInnis about the experiences of the Windrush generation. A specially composed monologue by actress Sharron Pillay, will also be performed at the event. Pillay will transform herself to become one of the characters from the book, Windrush Voices - 20 Stories of Determination and Triumph.

The event promises to be a wonderful and entertaining way to bring the Windrush generation experiences to life.

Friday 23 June 2023 - Windrush Thanksgiving Event

Jazanne Arts performance of Cislin Parry story at Green Towers, Edmonton. 

Cislin Parry is one of the contributors to the book Windrush Voices: 20 Stories of Determination and Triumph. Cislin came to the UK in 1959 to become a nurse, but eventually founded hair salon, Aquarius in Finsbury Park. Jazanne Arts have transformed her life story into a play which will take place after ECA’s weekly luncheon club. Start time to confirm.

ECA film documentary Windrush Voices: 20 stories of determination and triumph at Dugdale Arts Centre, Enfield Town. 

In their own words, the film documents how the Windrush pioneers overcame widespread ignorance, to survive and challenge the everyday prejudices they experienced and make a massive contribution to British society. The film screening will be followed by a 20 mins Q&A attended by participants in the film. Entrance price for the film screening is £6.
